The authors present a species list of the freshwater fish in South Florida. Many of the fish may be found within Everglades National Park, FL and the Big Cypress National Preserve, FL. The freshwater fish fauna of southern Florida is composed of 108 species. The authors describe the distribution and habitat of each species. The freshwater fish fauna is composed of 108 species in 34 families. Only 29% of the fauna belong to obligatory fresh water families. The Cyprino dontidae and Poeciliidae represent 19% of the native fauna. Eleven exotic species are established. The distribution and habitat of each species are described.
