Staff from Natural Heritage New Mexico conducted several biological inventories at Capulin Volcano NM, Fort Union NM and Pecos NHP. These inventories were mainly focused on collecting presence and abundance of vertebrate animals and vascular plants. Surveys at Capulin Volcano NM included vascular plants, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds. Surveys at Pecos NHP included birds and limited surveys of amphibians and reptiles. Only birds were surveyed at Fort Union because plants, herpetofauna and mammals were surveyed under a seperate inventory. The intention was locate and identify as many species as possible. Field work was done during the summer 2002 field season.
