The authors measured the abundance of shorebirds at 4 control plots and two aquaculture plots in Tomales Bay. Analysis considered intraseasonal timing, annual variation and aquaculture presence. The study led the authors to conclude that there is a net decrease in shorebird use of an area when aquaculture is present.
