Brown Bear, Ursus arctos, With Six Young

A female Brown Bear (Ursus arctos) accompanied by six young was observed on the Alaska Peninsula in 1983 and 1984. The circumstances surrounding the independent observations suggest the group was the same one both years. It may have been the result of orphaned or abandoned cubs being adopted, or an extremely rare cocurrence of a litter of sextuplets.
