A survey of the coastal biological resources of Aniakchak National Preserve was conducted during the summer of 1989 in response to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Information on degree of oiling of beaches and clean-up activities was gathered to determine potential impacts of the oil spill on the resources identified. Coastal wildlife resources were found to be rich and diverse, including balkd eagles, sea otters, harbor seals, seabirds, and brown bears. The impact of the Exxon Valdez oil spill on this area was light. Advese biological effects are therefore likely to be minimal.
