Authors captured 6 bat rays from Tomales Bay and measured respiratory metabolic rates under different temperatures. Rays were unacclimated. They found that increased temperatures were associated with increased oxygen consumption. They suggest that bat rays behaviorally thermoregulate when swimming in Tomales Bay where temperatures vary from the inner to outer bay.
