The objective of the lichen indicator pilot study in 2002 has been to determine which lichens occur at the WACAP lakes so that target tissue analysis species can be chosen for formal study. Goals include: minimizing the number of species selected to maximize overlap within and between parks for ease of comparisons and lower methods development expenses; and favoring species for which pre-existing information exists regarding clean and enhanced ranges of metals, nitrogen, and sulphur. This report summarizes Glacier National Park site visits conducted October 11-13, 2002 at Lower Snyder Lake and Oldman Lake. The report characterizes vegetation at each lake, and provides a list of lichen species observed.
