Moose density and population composition in units 19B, 17B, and 9B will be measured using the stratified quadrate survey procedure (Gasaway, W.C. et.al., 1986. Estimating moose population parameters from aerial surveys. Biol. Papers of the Univ. Ak. No. 22, Fairbanks, 108 pgs.). Density estimates will be obtained for each unit on a 3-year rotational schedule. Due to its size, 9B may be treated as 2 subunits divided by Lake Clark. Unit 17B may also be divided into north and south subunits with the boundary following the drainage divide between the Chilikadrotna and Mulchatna Rivers. Units 9B/north and 17B/south conform to the trend count areas established for the Kijik/Miller Creek and Chilikadrotna drainage respectively.
