Columbus Horatio Hall kept a journal during the summers 1905-1926 when he occupied a cabin on Lake Superior, near the mouth of Beaver Creek in what is now Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, MI. He describes Beaver Lake, Beaver Creek, Miners River, fishing, hunting for deer, rabbit, and squirrel, the forest, picking berries (strawberries, blueberries, rabbitberries, and raspberries), daily life near camp, and weather and storms. Xeroxed copies of photographs taken of the camp from 1912-1961 appear at the end of the second volume (dated 1905-1926). One photograph, taken in 1912, shows the logging dam at the mouth of Beaver Creek. Another, taken the same year, shows a footbridge across the creek upstream from the logging dam.
