Ground water movement is the result of recharge and discharge (seepage) from the river banks during daily river stage fluctuations. This is only one of many factors affecting sandbar stability, and coordination with related studies can help determine the dominant factor(s). This study covers two different types of flow release regimes from the dam, and concludes that erosion decreases when the range of river stage fluctuations is reduced.
