This amendment to the BLM Monument's Resource Management Plan was written to propose two Research Natural Areas (RNAs) and one Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). Big Juniper kipuka and Sand Kipuka are proposed RNAs due to unique vegetation. The proposal for ACEC designation for Baker cave is to protect the artifacts for study by archaeologists.
