Faa proposes to expand the Kahului airport on Maui outside of Haleakala National Park. The National Parks Conservation Association filed a petition with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for the review of this approved project. The threat of alien plants, animals and reptiles, and viruses are examples of species carried by international planeswhich are a serious theat to native resources in and outside the national park.
