While bats are an important component of healthy ecosystems, little is known about their species composition and distribution in the North Cascades National Park Service Complex. A systematic baseline inventory was conducted between 1998-2001 using a sampling system stratified into riparian, forest, and subalpine habitats. Anabat II ultrasonic bat detectors and mist nets were used to document 8 species (5 by capture and 3 by acoustic recording). M. yumanensis and M. lucifugus were most abundant while Lasiurus cinereus and M. volans were least abundant. Riparian areas had the most bat activity observed while subalpine areas had the least.
