Species composition and cover was estimated at thirty one-meter square plots established in the prairie at Herbert Hoover NHS. Plots were sampled three times during the course of the summer of 2000; 21 June, 24 July and 25 August. Results indicate the prairie was dominated by native prairie species with minimal cover of exotic weedy species. Big bluestem, tall goldenrod, and Indiangrass were the three leading dominants. The results of the random sampling closely resemble the annual inventory conducted in early August of this same year. Searches to document additional species of the vascular flora present on the prairie were carried out on 19 and 21 June; 24 and 31 July, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 25 August, and 2 October 2000. Special attention was paid to habitats underrepresented in random plots. Collections were made of questionable specimens and species determinations were made in the laboratory. Nomenclature was according to Eilers and Roosa.
