An inventory was completed in nearshore waters of Lake Superior to determine presence and relative abundance of fish species and mud puppy, Necturus maculosus, at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Surveys were completed with a combination of gear and techniques. These include beach seines, gill nets, fyke nets, Windermere traps, boat electrofishing, and bottom trawling. Twenty-nine species were collected, with 9 that had not previously been confirmed from PIRO waters. Mud puppies were not observed.
