The locations of plant community sites were determined using a stratified random approach based on plant communities defined by the USGS-NPS Veg Mapping Program. The following plant communities were sampled in 1999: Northern Great Plains little bluestem prairie, needle & thread-blue grama mixedgrass prairie, prairie sandreed-sand bluestem prairie, prairie sandreed-sand bluestem prairie upland disturbance, and western wheatgrass mixedgrass prairie. Eleven sample sites (110 10 meter squared plots) were sampled in June and again in July 1999. Sampling procedures follow Buck et al., 1999.
