As part of the USGS National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program, stream bed sediment and fish tissues from 6 Oahu streams were analyzed for organochlorine pesticides. Levels of DDT were comparable to those in other NAWQA study areas, while levels of chlordane and dieldrin were higher than in other study areas. Chlordane & dieldrin (termiticides) were associated with urban areas, while DDT (general insecticide) was associated with agricultural areas.
