Prescribed fire effects at Lassen Volcanic National Park: A postburn analysis using Fire Monitoring Handbook software and prediction using Geographic Information Systems technology
Brannfors LJ. Prescribed fire effects at Lassen Volcanic National Park: A postburn analysis using Fire Monitoring Handbook software and prediction using Geographic Information Systems technology
Upon deriving postburn data at Lassen Volcanic National Park from Western Region fire effects plots with the FMH program, a positive correlation was discovered between success at meeting burn objectives for hazardous fuel reduction and the range within the burn plan prescription conditions in which the burn was conducted. Extrapolation was made from monitoring types to fuel models, and success in future burn units was predicted by fuel model for burning at the low, middle, and high end of prescription using ArcView GIS technology.
