Direct from publication, "From 1990 through 1995 we studied a population of California spotted owls(Strix occidentalis occidentalis) in northeastern California. The primary goal of the study was to estimate demographic parameters (birth and death rates)in order to compute the trend of the owl populations. Based on the capture histories of greater than 170 subadult and adult owls and contemporary capture/recapture models, we were able to precisely estimate age-specific survival rates and sex-and-age-specific recapture rates."
