Active layer thaw rate at a boreal forest site in central Alaska, U.S.A

Hinkel KM and Nicholas JR. 1995. Active layer thaw rate at a boreal forest site in central Alaska, U.S.A. Arctic and Alpine Research. 27(1):72-80

Describes model, based on Stefan solution, tested with soil temperature data from active layer at site in discontinuous permafrost zone during two thaw seasons. Results suggest that methodology may provide viable way of estimating active layer thickness during summer, and of predicting local impact of regional warming
