The waters of Pinnacles National Monument were surveyed for an inventory of riparian aquatic vertebrate and invertebrate species in 2001-2005. Additional observations in 2006-7 have been incorporated in this updated report. Report was produced for the San Francisco Bay Area Inventory and Monitoring Network. A total of twelve aquatic vertebrate species were recorded in the Monument, consisting of three fish, five amphibians, and four reptiles. A total of 250 aquatic macroinvertebrate taxa were collected and identified. This project more than doubled the number of dragonflies and damselflies known to occur in San Benito County, from 15 to 40. At least one aquatic macroinvertebrate species new to science was discovered, and several groups were found to be unusually diverse and/or abundant.
