This report contains the results from a capture and release electrofishing survey for coho salmon and steelhead trout in Lagunitas Creek, San Geronimo Creek, and Devil's Gulch done between October 2 and October 31, 2000. Data was used to compute total abundance (population size) and densities (number of fish per unit length of stream) of coho and steelhead. Habitat conditions were also documented and found to be similar to those documented in 1999, except for LG-5 where a large bay tree had fallen into the pool habitat. The number of coho observed at this site represented 30% of the 2000 catch of coho. Trends observed were concluded to be due to variations in juvenile salmonid populations and not the result of changes in habitat or methodology. A total of 157 juvenile coho were captured from all sites and an estimated population of 4,684 juvenile coho for the system was established. This study concluded that the 2000 year class of coho has experience a sharp decline. A total of 1,913 juvenile steelhead were captured from all sites and an estimated population of 59,196 juvenile steelhead for this system was established. This study concluded that the steelhead population is robust and growing in all of the surveyed creeks.
