Final report on the general avian inventories of Black Canyon National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado

Giroir G. 2004. Final report on the general avian inventories of Black Canyon National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado. Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory. Grand Junction, CO

Glen Giroir, of the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory (RMBO), conducted avian inventories in 2002 and 2003 at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park (BLCA) and Curecanti National Recreation Area (CURE) by establishing a series of habitat-stratified point counts and line transects using distance sampling methodology in each of the major habitat types at these two parks. Surveys were also conducted for wintering, migratory, and nocturnal bird species by conducting point counts along drivable roads. In BLCA, field workers detected 74 species, with 90 species detected in CURE.
