This limited version atlas was developed to accomodate specific requests from Hawaiian user community to support management and scientific needs. 27 distinct benthic habitat types within 11 zones were mapped directly into a geographic information system (GIS) using visual interpretation of orthorectified aerial photographs and hyperspectral imagery. Maps were reviewed by numerous scientists, then prepared by the Program in cooperation with Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii. Includes col. locator map, 5 col. figures, brief text, and bibliographical references. Maps were derived from earlier maps, imagery, and data found on CD-ROM: Benthic habitats of the main Hawaiian Islands; and are also available in that earlier form via Internet from the NOS Biogeography Program Web site
