Direct from article, "The original objective of this field survey was an extended exological study of a lizard population, to be carried out over several successive years. In view of the rather limited amount of work which has been done on territorial responses among reptiles, special attention was to be given to this aspect of behavior. The lizards selected for study constituted a portion of a population of mountain swifts Sceloporus graciousus gracilis (Baird and Girard) inhabiting the rocky Chaos Jumbles region of Lassen Volcanic National Park of California."
