Chapter 1: Surveys of marbled murrelet activity on the Kenai Peninsula

Author unknown. 1993. Chapter 1: Surveys of marbled murrelet activity on the Kenai Peninsula

The preliminary nesting habtat of the marbled murrelet throughout most of its range is old-growth coniferous forest, where it lays a single egg on a moss-coverved branch. Although ground nests have been found in Alaska, the majority of marbled murrelets in Alaska occur offshore of forest regions; only a small percentage of the population appears to breed in treeless regions.
