This is a draft progress report on invasive non-native plant inventories conducted in portions of Capital Reef NP (including portions of Glen Canyon NRA), Colorado NM, and Mesa Verde NP. The objective is to provide exotic invasive plant distribution and abundance to be used in vegetation control strategies. Methods of these inventories meet the minimum mapping standards established by the North American Weed Management Association. Trimble GPS units measuring 2 to 5- meter accuracy were used. Field locations were differentially corrected in the production of final digital products. Mapping activities were conducted to achieve 90% or greater confidence that all invasive plant infestations (0.01 acre or larger) within each survey area were detected. Representative slide photos were taken showing some of the species and habitats inventoried. No vouchers were collected. Between May 22 and September 28, 2003, NPS field crews surveyed 8,515 acres for a total of 133 person-days in the three park units (person-day=10hrs).
