Scopelophila cataractae (Mitt.) Broth. in Pennsylvania

The rare copper moss, Scopelophila cataractae was recently collected in the vicinity of a zinc smelter at Palmerton, Pennsylvania. The plants and their substrates were highly enriched with zinc and cadmium, but not copper. Scopelophila cataractae and Anomobryum filiforme are new to Pennsylvania.
