An investigation of the limnological properties of Lake Kauhako, Kalaupapa Peninsula, Molokai

Smith G. 1995. An investigation of the limnological properties of Lake Kauhako, Kalaupapa Peninsula, Molokai

Reports results of Hawaii Department of Health survey to determine whether the saline Lake Kauhako is significantly connected to the ocean (and would therefore be classified as an anchialine pool). The lake was found not to be directly connected to the ocean, so is classified as "a precipitous and strongly meromictic mixohaline crater lake with most of its volume in a stagnant near-anoxic euhaline lower zone".
