A study on abandoned agricultural plots, tree species composition and dominance in Pago Pago, American Samoa. Thirty-two sites (only abandoned taro sites) were used. Time range of abandonment ranged from 0.25 years to 15.2 years. Thirteen tree species were identified along with plot age of where each tree was identified. There were two endemic trees identified: Bachania merrillii and Dysoxylum samoense. Conclusion of study indicates that the regeneration rate in Pago Pago is fast and begins within three months.
