A workshop was held to develop a coral reef monitoring program for the National Park of American Samoa, where the intent was to focus on the most significant indicators (i.e. vital signs) of long-term trends or priority concerns of the park. The vital signs selected were human uses of the park, and selected parameters for corals, other invertebrates, fish, algae, and water quality. The next steps in this process will be to determine appropriate sampling designs and methods for the monitoring program. Report includes tables and charts (like a five year plan for the parks; discusses factors for tracking changes and where the parks are now).
