The observations reported in this paper are a result of surveys conducted by the Department of Marina and Wildlife Resources from 1986 to May 1998 and are intended to supplement information provided by the American Samoa Coral Reef Inventory (ASCRI). Most descriptions are of the productive outer reef slope, between five and twenty meters in depth, and are intended to assist divers, resource managers, and researchers. Areas surveyed: Olosega Island - south and northwest shores, Tau Island west and north shores, Ofu Island - south and north shores, and the "fringing reef flat" near southern Ofu Island. Permanent transect are located on Ofu and Olosega islands. Includes maps of survey sites.
