1997 herd unit classification of Roosevelt elk in Redwood National and State Parks

Wallen R. 1997. 1997 herd unit classification of Roosevelt elk in Redwood National and State Parks. Redwood National and State Parks

This is the 1997 annual report for the monitoring of Roosevelt elk herds in Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP). Excerpts: "Annual classifications of Roosevelt elk in RNSP are important to document relative abundance and population dynamics characteristics. During 1997, classification counts were conducted opportunistically by Fish and Wildlife Branch staff. In addition, the population ecology class at Humboldt State University assisted this year by conducting four systematic classification counts along four separate transects on the 15th and 16th of November." Tables display the results of the surveys with the location and numbers of elk (by sex and age).
