A detailed vegetation survey of Fort Union National Monument was conducted from 2000 to 2002. Over the couse of three summer seasons, the team conducted floral surveys consisting of comprehensive on foot searches in both park units. A vegetation map was made using the survey results. Classification is based upon the National Vegetation Classification System.
