"These guidelines are intended to provide the minimum components of a coastal monitoring program that would be implemented by coastal developers, governmental agencies and other interested or concerned groups. The guidelines have been developed to provide regional, i.e., West Hawaii information, to assist in the development and clarification of coastal and marine resource management tools. The guidelines have also been developed with the clear understanding that specific projects may require additional monitoring to assess the potential impacts of those projects." Descriptions of monitoring protocols for: Water quality (nearshore, groundwater, anchialine pools and sediments), marine life (nearshore and anchialine pools), ciguatera monitoring, coastal use, protected species (cetaceans, turtles and terrestrial plants and animals) are included. As well as data reporting/analysis with note on GIS tools.
