Trip Report: Sightings of Branded Steller Sea Lions in Southeast Alaska 19-28 August 2002

Jemison L. 2003. Trip Report: Sightings of Branded Steller Sea Lions in Southeast Alaska 19-28 August 2002

The primary objective of this trip was to survey Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus) rookeries and haulouts throughout Southeast Alaska (SEA) to observe branded Steller sea lions (SSL) and to determine whether surveying in late August produced observations of branded animals not previously seen during the breeding season survey (5 June 2 July 2002). We surveyed 18 sites (14 haulouts and 4 rookeries) from Glacier Bay in the north to the Forrester Island complex near the U.S. Canadian Border in the south (Figure 1).
