In order to sample amphibians along a river, in 1998 and 1999, four stretches of the Rio Grande were selected in Big Bend Natiional Park, Texas. Temporal and spatial variations in amphibian counts and species richness were explored. Relationships between amphibian counts and environmental variables, as well as amphibian-habitat associations along the banks of the Rio Grande were assessed. The Rio Grande leopard frogs accounted for 96% of the visual records, although seven anuran species were documented.
