101 permanent avian point count stations were established within the boundarries of Horseshoe Bend National Military Park in July 1999. Monthly point counts were conducted at these points for the next 12 months. Data were collected in accordance with protocols modified from Hamel et al. 1996. All birds seen or heard within and outside 50 m of the point during a 5 minute period were counted. Point counts began at dawn and continued up to 6 hours after dawn. A total of 102 species and 14,622 individuals were counted.
