This investigation sought groundwater sources that could be developed to supply campgrounds and park ranger stations. Tables show existing hydrologic data collected by the authors, and products include geologic maps of water-yielding deposits. Suggestions for test drilling are divided according to likelihood of good results, and the appendix gives methods for sinking large-diameter wells having horizontal laterals. Yields from the suggested areas are expected to be small, with the exception of the western Pinto Basin, and high fluoride levels preclude long-term use in some areas. Geologic units are described only in relation to their water-bearing properties, and include such divisions as basement complex, alluvium of several ages, lacustrine deposits, playa deposits, and others.
