Between 2002 and 2003, surveys for fishes, amphibians, reptiles and mammals were carried out at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. The goal of these surveys was to document at least 90% of the vertebrate species present in the park. Fish surveys consisted of sampling 9 stations in May 2002. A total of 18 species were recorded. Amphibians, reptiles and small mammals were sampled multiple times between 2002 and 2003 using several methods. All were sampled using cover board stations and night road surveys. Survey methods specific to amphibians and reptiles included auditory amphibian surveys, incidental tadpole sampling from fish seining, and turtle surveys. Small and medium mammals were sampled via trapping (Tomahawk and Sherman), bat surveys via mist nets and camera and tracking plate surveys. A total of 4 amphibian species, 5 turtle species, 5 reptile species and 17 mammal species were detected. The report then continues with a discussion of species that may be present in the park, but were not detected.
