This study assessed the effect of the use of deltamethrin for flea control on prairie dog colonies. During 10 August - 22 September 2002, 9 pairs of treatment and control plots were sampled on dusted and non-dusted study sites with Utah prairie dog and white-tailed prairie dog colonies. Arthropods were collected with pitfall traps and sweep nets. Researchers concluded that dusting prairie dog burrows once per year with 4 grams of Deltadust does not cause overall devastation of the arthropod community. Further research is necessary to confirm negative or positive effects generated for several species. Research site locations were outside of Bryce Canyon NP. They included West Desert (BLM), Pausaugunt-Plateau (USFS, Awapa-Plateau (USFS) and Coyote Basin (BLM). All locations in Utah.
