Between 22 April and 5 May 1977, 455 adult bald eagles were counted from the air in 30 random plots along the saltwater shoreline in southeast Alaska. This is a sample from 488 square plots, each 166 km^2, covering the entire coastline of islands, inlets, channels, and bays.
