Group Dynamics and Summer Home Range of Bison in Southern Utah

Van Vuren D. 1983. Group Dynamics and Summer Home Range of Bison in Southern Utah. Journal of Mammalogy. 64(2):329-332

This study was conducted just east of Capitol Reef National Park, in the Henry Mountains, Garfield County, Utah. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the relationship between bison cow group size and habitat openness, to determine the stability of bison cow groups, and to quantify summer home ranges of individual bison. The report concludes that the group size of bison was small and varied with habitat openness; that individual home ranges were large. Includes tables and references.
