Surveys were used in 1975, 1985, and 1997 to determine boaters' perceptions of overcrowding at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. In 1997, the 1975 and 1985 respondents were surveyed again, as well. The data was used to determine if changes in overcrowding perceptions were due to changes in visitors.
