Birkeland C, Green A, Mundy C, Miller K. 2004. Long term monitoring of Fagatele Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Tutuila Island (American Samoa) 1985 to 2001: summary of surveys conducted in 1998 to 2001
Summary of coral and fish surveys conducted in Fagatele Bay and around Tutuila Island during 1998 and 2001 to assess changes in these two communities through time. Coral data includes average size of each colony, size range of colonies of each species at each sites, density and cover of each coral species and the overall density and cover of corals at each sites. Fish data includes relative abundance and species richness at each site in each year. The results confirm that the coral communities in Fagatele Bay and the locations around Tutuila are recovering. However, the fish communities appear to be taking longer to fully recover.
