Bryce Canyon Resource Management created this project gain information on the rate of erosion occurring on the windows and arches within the Park. In order to achieve this, these features were located, photographed and recorded by researcher, Megan Pretorius, in 1999. The location of the windows and arches has been recorded using GPS (Global Positioning System). Survey method included using a topographic map of the study area (between the south side of Boat Mesa and the north side of Sunset Point) to navigate, and walking the area trails and drainages to locate rock windows and arches. GPS readings were taken of rock windows or arches and marked on maps. Estimated measurements of the feature were documented. Occasionally, GPS readings were unattainable, but feature measurements were documented.
