The yellow bittern (Ixobrychus sinensus) is commonly found throughout the western Pacific region, including Guam, where it breeds year round. This bird often forages in grassy areas found around most airfields. Because of concerns to aviation safety due to bittern-aircraft collisions, an on-going management program was established to deal with aviation hazards created by yellow bitterns on Guam. This proceeding discusses the activities and results of this management program.
