Paleontological resources (fossils) are important natural resources within the National Park Service (NPS) and have been identified in over 160 NPS units. However, very few of these parks have the adequate baseline paleonotological resource data necessary for informed management decision-making. Recent inventories have grealy increased knowledge of paleonotological resources within the NPS. This report summerizes paleonotological resource data and current research efforts for the five NPS units within the Southwest Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network (SWAN).
