A study to determine if fruit bats (Peteropus tonganus) seek out deficient minerals such as caluium while foraging within American Samoa. Methods used in this study were netting and housing of bats to conduct fruit choice experiments and radiotelemetry. The results indicate that fruit bats utilize both the native and mixed agricultural forest, however desire feeding on agricultural fruits (e.g. banana and breadfruit) that are rich in sugar.
