Pipe Spring National Monument is one of the few perennial water sources on the Arizona Strip, and it provides an important resource for both resident and migratory bird populations. From 1999-2001, breeding and non-breeding (winter and migration) bird surveys were conducted at the monument, including variable circle plot point count surveys and incidental surveys. A total of 70 species were detected during the breeding season, and 36 species were detected during non-breeding winter surveys.
